Set amidst the rolling Barrington Hills countryside, the annual Hospice Gala presented by the Hospice Foundation of Northeastern Illinois netted more than $350,000 in support of hospice care, more than $100,000 above its expected goal.

This year’s event was held on June 25, at the Tall Oaks estate in Barrington Hills. Approximately 400 people attended, who enjoyed cocktails in the sprawling gardens and pool area, and then made their way down a winding flagstone path to an expansive white tent in a grassy pasture for dinner and dancing. Live entertainment was provided by the High Society Orchestra.

Kim Duchossois, Barrington Hills resident and longtime HPNI supporter, served as this year’s Honorary Gala Chair, offering her property as the location for the event.

Reverse and live auctions served as the fundraising portion of the evening. In the Reverse Auction, several attendees committed to donation anounts beginning at $20,000 and working down to $100. Funds raised from the auction were combined with ticket and raffle sales as well as event sponsorships.

“Money raised at this event will go toward uncompensated costs related to uninsured or underinsured patients, as well as programming and services that are not reimbursed by insurance or Medicare, and special acute care programs,” explained Kristin Frazier, special events coordinator at HPNI.
