Hospice Mourns Loss of Long-Time Advocate, State Rep. Beaubien
The staff, volunteers and boards of Hospice & Palliative Care of Northeastern Illinois are saddened today by the news of the passing of Illinois State Representative Mark Beaubien Jr., longtime advocate and friend of the agency. Mark passed away suddenly Sunday, June 5, 2011. Together with his wife Dee, a longtime HPNI board member, and their family, Mark supported the agency in many ways, from providing guidance and relationship building opportunities for grant funding and sponsoring special events to standing up for the rights of hospice patients.
“We were so lucky to have him advocating for our community and for our organization,” said Beth Raseman, vice president, Hospice & Palliative Care of Northeastern Illinois. “He cared so much about making sure people received quality hospice care—not only adults, but children as well.”
Mark was often in attendance at our agency’s fundraising events, and he and his wife graciously supported the construction of the Pepper Family Hospice Home and Center for Care with the “Mark and Dee Beaubien Resource Library” naming opportunity gift, located on the second floor of the Barrington-based facility.
“Mark was a longtime friend of Hospice, and a very special man. He loved his family, his friends and his community. He will be missed,” added CEO Cindy Musikantow.
