Fall Memorial Service Slated in Barrington
Barrington, IL (Aug. 9, 2011) As a special way to pay tribute to a lost loved one, the bereavement department at Hospice & Palliative Care of Northeastern Illinois (HPNI) will hold a special Memorial Service in September in Barrington.
The service, The Gift of Grief, will be held on Monday, Sept. 12, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 120 Ela St., in downtown Barrington. Registration begins at 6:30 p.m. with the service beginning promptly at 7.
The evening will include a candle-lighting ceremony during which the names of those who have passed away are read aloud. Participants may also bring a photo to be displayed on the Remembrance Table during the event.
An informal gathering that includes coffee, refreshments and fellowship, will follow the service.
“Participating in a memorial service is an important part of the grieving process,” said Mary Ann Greene, manager of the bereavement department at HPNI. “It’s especially nice to have a ritual, like the candle-lighting ceremony, to help pay tribute to a loved one’s life.”
Anyone who lost a loved one is invited to attend. To register or find out more information, call 224-770-CARE or email at bereavement@hospiceanswers.org. Those who register may have their loved one’s name included in the program.
HPNI is a community based, not-for-profit organization serving families throughout McHenry, Lake, Cook, Kane, Boone, DuPage and Will counties. Celebrating its 29th year of service, HPNI provides comprehensive end-of-life care to approximately 1,400 patient families each year.
