Hospice Receives Challenge Grant
HPNI recently received a Matching Endowment Challenge Grant from the McHenry County Community Foundation (MCCF) which could bring in as much as $25,000 in matching funds. This challenge program enables HPNI
to receive a dollar-for-dollar match for all funds raised or donated between $10,000 and $25,000, allowing the agency an endowment fund balance of $20,000-$50,000 to start. The agency’s endowment fund would potentially
grow each year, enabling a substantial amount of reserves to be safely stowed away.
“We are excited about the opportunity presented by the MCCF in building an endowment with them,” said Beth Raseman, vice president of development for the Hospice Foundation. “This challenge offers us a wonderful
opportunity to raise funds to support all of our patient care efforts in McHenry County, and gives us a
chance to build up an endowment that would help HPNI, as a nonprofit agency, survive well into the future.”
Last year, nearly half of the 1,688 patients served by HPNI resided in McHenry County, and since opening its doors in Nov. 2007, the agency’s Woodstock Hospice Home inpatient unit has served more than 700 patients.
“We truly appreciate that as the MCCF celebrates its 10th anniversary, they decided to create these special endowments as a way to help grow and support the agencies that they believe in.”
