Hospice Home Celebrates First Anniversary
HPNI celebrated a milestone in July. One year ago, the Pepper Family Hospice Home and Center for Care, welcomed its first patient.
The hospice home is a state of the art facility providing a warm and welcoming environment in a homelike setting for patients who need round the clock support for pain and symptom management as they face end of life. The 16-suite facility offers an atmosphere that encourages families to focus on what matters most: an opportunity to be together, reminiscing, while receiving quality professional care from professionals who are experts in end-of-life care.
“The Pepper Family Hospice Home has become an integral part of our community. We have often been told how grateful families are for us being here, caring for their loved ones,” said Cindy Musikantow, CEO of HPNI. “We, in turn, are grateful to the many people, including the Pepper Family, who helped us bring this dream to life.”
“The community has been so supportive and willing to get involved,” added Siobhan White, director of programs. “We currently have more than 60 volunteers who have supported our teams in the hospice home as patient care and pet therapy volunteers, and another dozen or so who have helped with our gardens.”
The Pepper Family Hospice Home is the 2nd inpatient facility operated by HPNI. The first unit, located in Woodstock, opened in the fall of 2007. Together, the units serve residents of McHenry, Lake, Cook, DuPage, Kane, Boone and Will counties.
