Top 10 Reasons to Choose
Hospice & Palliative Care of Northeastern Illinois
1. Expertise. We are a 28-year-old community-based hospice with a history of providing comprehensive end-of-life care to 1,400 patients annually. Our staff are experts in providing care coordination, and pain and symptom managment even for the most complex cases. We offer a dedicated full-time staff, plus extended-hours and triage coverage so we are here for you 24/7 365 days a year.
2. Volunteering. Our volunteers are specially trained to provide assistance to patients and their families and even to sit vigil with those patients that have no nearby family. It is our agency's goal that no patient should die alone.
3. Non-profit. We are not focused on margin but rather a mission of delivering quality care and support to all hospice- and palliative care-appropriate residents who are referred to us, regardless of their ability to pay.
4. Independent. Unlike other hospices with corporate roots, we are deeply rooted in the communities we serve throughout Boone, northern Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, and McHenry counties.
5. Joint Commission accredited. We have earned the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval and have enjoyed full accreditation since 1996.
6. Quality. 98 percent of physicans who have referred patients to our agency, and 100 percent of referring hospitals, rate the quality of our services as very good or excellent. In addition, 96 percent of family members tell us they would recommend our agency to others.
7. Palliative care. If someone has a serious illness—whatever the prognosis—and needs relief from pain or symptoms, such as fatigue, nausea, loss of appetite and shortness of breath, our palliative team can help. Palliative care is appropriate for people of any age and at any point in an illness. It can be delivered along with curative treatments.
8. Pediatrics. We are recognized for our best practice in pediatric hospice and palliative care. Our agency is only one of three hospices in the metropolitan Chicago area that offers pediatrics. We have partnered with Children’s Memorial Hospital and Lutheran General Hospital to bring the resources and expertise of some of the top hospitals in Illinois—to Hospice & Palliative Care of Northeastern Illinois.
9. Complementary therapies. Art, music, massage and Reiki therapy, as well as pet visits, are available to our hospice patients to promote feelings of comfort and security.
10. Bereavement support. As one of Illinois’ most comprehensive bereavement programs, our services include free individual and group counseling, workshops and ongoing support.
